Mobile Shopping App Use Expected To Jump During Holidays

Mobile has already made a big impact on the way consumers are doing their holiday shopping.  A recent report showed several statistics that point to a big jump in the use of apps during while shopping for holiday gifts.

  • Nearly 40% of smart phone owners have a shopping related app on their device
  • 42% of shopping app users said they planned to download new shopping apps specifically for the holiday season
  • 70% of consumers looking for shopping apps were interested in price comparison tools to use in-store.  65% wanted mobile coupon apps and 62% wanted a scanner app that would aid comparison shopping
  • 44% said that they used mobile apps because they only have time to shop on the go

What Does This Mean To You?

Mobile shopping apps makes the buying process easier and quicker for the consumer.  Time and convenience are gifts we all could use for the holidays.  For small businesses that may not be able to afford their own app, there are several group apps that can help you move merchandise.  Mobile consumerism is something that is not going to go away.  For more information on how to generate more money with a mobile strategy, please contact your Orlando Sentinel Media Group representative or:
