Shopping Gets More Social

More and more, shoppers are connecting with retailers and brands through social media.  A research report from the National Retail Federation showed:

  • 42% of online consumers have “followed” a retailer proactively through Facebook, Twitter or a retailer’s blog
  • The average person follows 6 brands
  • Nearly 6 in 10 people follow brands to get more deals
  • Almost half say they follow to stay informed
  • Roughly 40% follow to learn about contests & events

You have a great opportunity to monetize your social media offerings:

  • 56% of Facebook users say they have clicked through to a retailers site because of a post
  • Almost 2/3 of Twitter users say a post has spurred a click through to a site
  • Approximately  1/3 of all Twitter and Facebook users said they would be highly likely to make purchases directly from a social network

What Does This Mean For You?
